PARKERSBURG, West Virginia (WTAP) –
The Mid-Ohio Valley Model Railroad Club has been around since 1981.
They are currently located in the basement of the NOE office supply, where they have trains all around.
The group’s treasurer, Joshua Lee, talks about the open days the group organizes for the community.
J. Lee said, “It’s very important for us to be able to open our doors to the community. It’s really special when kids come, and other people, and see the club for the first time. We have facilities all over the basement, and people are a little impressed when they first go down. We have a lot of complex setups. We devote a lot of time and resources to it. We really like to share that with the public.
Parker Atknson and Parker Lee explain that seeing the community visit their network isn’t the only thing they enjoy.
Atknson said, “Just people. They are really nice, kind and help each other. At these events, like the rail show, everyone comes together and has fun talking and socializing. Just like the times when everyone was having fun in the old shows and now. This is very fun.”
P. Lee said, “It’s probably either the way they look or the way some of them blow smoke; I love that.”
Joshua Lee hopes more people will be interested in joining the group in the future.
J. Lee said, “It’s kind of hard to get young kids involved at this point. We really seek to involve young children. We want to bring down the scout troops, open our doors and involve children more than anything. »
The group will hold an open house on December 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
